The Kwintelooijen is a remarkably diverse nature reserve. Until the 1970s, this area served as a sand quarry. Today, the area is a nature reserve and is used for recreational purposes where you can mountain bike, hike, picnic and much more.
The area is part of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug and boasts many different animal and platelet species such as the sand lizard, nightjar and wolf claw. During the past sand extraction, even remains from the ice age and periods further back in history were discovered. In short; a very diverse nature reserve that is definitely worth a visit.
